Puzzle #447 · November 4, 2026

Today's Poople: REPS to POOP

Start word REPS, target POOP, official par 6 steps. Next puzzle in a few hours.

Hint 1: which letter to change first

Your first move changes the first letter: _EPS.

Hint 2: a word in the middle

About halfway down the ladder you pass through COPS.

Hint 3: the full answer (6 steps)

REPS → PEPS → POPS → COPS → COOS → COOP → POOP

  1. REPS
  2. 1 PEPS
  3. 2 POPS
  4. 3 COPS
  5. 4 COOS
  6. 5 COOP
  7. 6 POOP

This ladder takes 6 steps, the same as the official par.

If the game rejects one of those words, try this one instead: REPS → RAPS → RAMS → RAMP → ROMP → POMP → POOP

How to play Poople

Poople is a daily word ladder. You get a four-letter start word and have to turn it into POOP, changing exactly one letter per move. Every word along the way has to be a real English word, and the goal is to arrive in as few moves as possible. The smallest possible number of moves is called par. Everyone gets the same start word, and a new one arrives every day at 08:00 UTC.

For example, COLD → HOLD → HOOD → HOOP → POOP reaches the target in four moves: each step swaps one letter and lands on a real word. A move like COLD → COOD would not count, because COOD is not a word.

Tips for solving any Poople puzzle

How we work out the answer

Once a puzzle goes live we note its start word and par. Our solver then builds a graph of 3,138 four-letter words, where two words are linked if they differ by one letter, and searches it for a ladder of exactly par length. When several ladders tie, it prefers the most everyday words. The word list is derived from SCOWL by Kevin Atkinson, used under its permissive licence, with a handful of archaic and proper-noun entries removed. Because it is not the official Poople dictionary, treat our ladder as a strong hint rather than a guarantee.

Poople FAQ

What is the Poople answer today?

Poople #447 (November 4, 2026) starts at REPS and has a par of 6. One ladder we found is REPS → PEPS → POPS → COPS → COOS → COOP → POOP, which matches par. Open the hints above if you would rather work it out yourself.

When does Poople reset?

A new Poople puzzle goes live every day at 08:00 UTC, which is 4:00 a.m. in New York and 9:00 a.m. in London (one hour earlier in winter). We add each new puzzle to this page shortly after it goes live.

What does par mean in Poople?

Par is the fewest steps needed to turn the start word into POOP. Each step changes one letter and must leave a real four-letter word. Finishing in par is a perfect result; every extra step counts against you.

Why might your ladder differ from the official solution?

We solve every puzzle with our own program and an open-source word list of about 3100 four-letter words, not the official Poople dictionary. Most days our ladder matches par, but now and then it uses a word the game does not accept, or needs an extra step. That is why we also show a second ladder when one exists.

Is this the official Poople website?

No. This is an unofficial helper page on Unlimited Krillion and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Poople. Play the daily puzzle at pooplegame.com.

Where can I find past Poople answers?

Every puzzle we have covered is listed in our Poople answer archive, newest first, with the start word, par and a full ladder.
