What the Geography pack covers
The pack currently holds 23 original prompts. Each dive picks seven of them, so no two rounds feel the same. Prompts you might get:
- Name a country in Africa
- Name a country in Europe
- Name a country in Asia
- Name a US state
- Name a city in California
- Name a river
- Name a national capital city
- Name an island or island group
- Name a mountain or mountain range
- Name a lake
- Name a desert
- Name a city in Texas
- Name a US national park
- Name a city in the United Kingdom
- Name a country or territory in the Americas
- Name a city or town in Canada
- Name a city or town in Australia
- Name a city or town in France
- Name a city or town in Italy
- Name a volcano
- Name a waterfall
- Name a famous bridge
- Name a sea, gulf or bay
The mix runs from whole continents (countries in Africa, Europe and Asia) to physical features (rivers, lakes, deserts, volcanoes, waterfalls) and down to local knowledge such as cities in California, Texas, Canada, Australia, France and Italy. All prompts and answers were written for this site.
How geography practice works in a Krillion-style game
In a Krillion-style game you type as many answers as you can before time runs out, and the rarer an answer is, the deeper it takes you. Unlimited Krillion measures depth in five tiers:
- Surface: 10 points, the answers everyone says first.
- Reef: 30 points, still familiar but a step less obvious.
- Twilight: 60 points, answers that need real knowledge.
- Midnight: 85 points, the deep cuts.
- Abyss: 100 points, the rarest answers of all.
Geography suits this format well. Everybody can name France or the Nile, but few people will think of a small island group, a minor lake or a mid-sized town in another country. Each round shows you how far your map knowledge actually goes.
Tips for scoring higher
- Bank the easy ones first. Type the obvious answers quickly to build a base score and get your fingers moving, then slow down and dig for less common ones.
- Think in regions. Instead of searching your memory at random, walk across a map. For rivers, go continent by continent. For cities, go region by region within a country.
- Use sub-categories. For a mountain prompt, think of ranges, then individual peaks. For an island prompt, think of archipelagos, then single islands.
- Watch spelling and alternate names. Many places have more than one common name. If one version is not accepted, try the other.
- Review after every round. The results screen shows the answers you missed. Pick two or three to remember and you will recognise them next time.
